LYONS AND WALMSLEY: THE ORIGINAL JAGUAR CREATORS OF ENGLAND

To answer, "Where are Jaguar cars made?", we need to view the company through a more global lens. Though its humble roots are in Blackpool, England, the company didn't remain in that location long. As noted above, the Jaguar brand was first conceptualized by William Lyons and William Walmsley. Inspired by their love of motorcycles, the duo began using Austin chassis and engines to create their first two-seater sedan.

As the demand for the company's first vehicles grew, Lyons and Walmsley relocated production to Coventry, England, where a larger factory could meet the brand's needs. Lyon then hired skilled engineers to develop the SS 1, which was soon followed by the development of the more powerful SS Jaguar under the newly minted brand name of SS Cars Limited.

Lyons continued his quest for more potent engine capabilities, and thus, a new inline six-cylinder was born in the revolutionary Jaguar XK120 sports car. The Jaguar XK120 – as its name suggests – surpassed Lyon's goals and reached a top speed of 120 mph. Future vehicles like the Jaguar C-TYPE and Jaguar D-TYPE were inspired by the Jaguar XK120's success.

THE JAGUAR/FORD CONUNDRUM: HOW FORD MOTOR COMPANY AFFECTED THE JAGUAR BRAND

Some automotive experts believe that moving Jaguar to the Ford Motor Company dramatically improved Jaguar vehicles' quality, reliability, and longevity. This improvement could be attributed to the extensive resources, dependable assembly lines, and established automotive production processes that have established Ford as a top brand.

The Ford Motor Company purchased Jaguar in 1999 with the intention of attracting younger buyers and beating out competitors like BMW and Mercedes-Benz. However, due to fierce market competition and unforeseen economic recessions in both the United States and the United Kingdom, Ford was forced to sell Jaguar to Tata Motors only nine years later.

TATA MOTORS AND THE FUTURE OF JAGUAR

Under the leadership of Tata Motors, the Jaguar brand reached new levels of fame and success. Tata invested significantly in the development of Jaguar vehicles, improving their quality and expanding the brand's global reach. Market trends also shifted during this time, and the demand for luxury vehicles helped drive sales of Jaguar models.

Fast-forward to the present day, when the automotive industry is more focused than ever on sustainability, and Tata Motors continues to make strategic decisions about the Jaguar brand to prepare it for these eco-focused changes. New Jaguar vehicles now feature all-electric, plug-in hybrid, and mild hybrid powertrains that maintain the company's iconic speed and agility but reduce or eliminate carbon emissions.
