If your first contact with Tom Wood Jaguar is via the internet, your inquiry will find its way to the desk of our internet sales manager, John Northam.
John is a native Hoosier who was born and raised in Indiana, although he was tempted away to Florida for seven years before coming to his senses and moving back home. John has always been a keen athlete and in his youth he played football for the Zionsville Eagles, where he was responsible for inventing a play later made famous by William “The Refrigerator” Perry. John, normally a left guard or defensive tackle, would take the hand-off from the quarterback and trundle forward at lightning speed with half the defense hanging off him for the touchdown. This move was known as the “Northam Special” and on quiet Thursday evenings in the winter John will often re-enact the play to an attentive and occasionally shocked audience of impressionable car salesmen.
After leaving school John gave up football and turned to his other great passions, drumming and modelling. He appeared in both TV commercials and print ads for a local restaurant, now surprisingly out of business, and in 1985 was “Mr. August” in the Edgecomb Metals calendar. Life was busy as John was simultaneously playing drums for three different Indianapolis bands and would often rush from a modelling assignment to venues such as the Slippery Noodle to pound the pigskin.
John has been married to his lovely wife Pam for 29 years and they have two children and seven grandchildren, as well as a couple of schnauzers that keep them on their toes. They enjoy cycling and Sangria, and Pam is a keen gardener while John is a keen assistant gardener. During his time John has turned his hand to a number of jobs, from working for the highways department to building boats in Florida, and he’s been part of the Tom Wood family since 2005. Ask anyone here to describe John and the words “friendly” and “helpful” are going to be heard often because he’s a great colleague and an absolute joy to have around.
